DESCRIPTION

For our summer vacation we traveled to the east coast of the USA. Since we've never been to New York but didn't just want to see the big city, we decided to do a mix of beach and city vacation. For this we flew on to Miami after a few days in New York. The combination was great and I can recommend it to everyone.

HIGHLIGHTS

ITINERARY

  • General Information

Since we were in New York for the first time, we looked at the most important sights. Probably the typical tourist program. So that we could really experience the city, we tried to walk as much as possible. This is also possible if you look for the right sights on the route in the morning. Of course, taking the subway is also a highlight itself.

    Accommodation

Best Western Jamaica Inn, Van Wyck Expressway, Queens, NY

We had our hotel in the borough of Queens. We found it great value for money. The location is very good for getting into town.

    Activities and Sights

Central Park is ideal for a break from sightseeing. Just watching the people in the park is fun because you meet so many different people here. It is best to combine Central Park with a picnic.

By chance we came across the High Line, which was an absolute highlight of New York for us. The High Line is a 2-3 kilometer long former freight road that now serves as a pedestrian path. The special thing is that you walk several meters above the normal road.

The Staten Island Ferry is a free ferry from Manhatten to Staten Island. You should definitely use this, because from here you have another great view of the Statue of Liberty and the New York skyline.
