Itinerary for 4 weeks on the east coast of Australia
Published: Sep, 2020 | Travel Date: Sep - Oct 2017
DESCRIPTION
With this travel route I discovered the east coast of Australia for four weeks. From Melbourne I went along the east coast to Cairns - with all the important highlights. As mainf transportation, I have chosen the Greyhound bus. With this Hop on Hop off bus you can travel from city to city at the given times every day. The price for the 30 day Whimit Travel Pass ticket is 400 Australian dollars.

General Information
Melbourne is a good starting point for this trip. The flights are cheap and you start directly in a metropolis. Melbourne lives from the atmosphere and does not offer the "one attraction". Melbourne has not been voted the world's most livable city several times for nothing.
Accommodation
Nomads St Kilda Hostel, Grey Street, St Kilda, VIC
Basic hostel in the St Kilda district. Ideal for backpackers. It takes about 30 minutes to get to the city center by bus.
Activities and Sights
Great Ocean Road Tour (2 Days)
The Great Ocean Road is an absolute must in Australia. Depending on whether you meet cool people in the hostel, you can do the tour together on your own with a rental car or simply book a guided tour. Highlights along the way include: 12 Apostles, London Arch, Loch Ard Gorge, The Grotto, Bells Beach, Great Otway National Park
Explore the city center on foot
Melbourne doesn't have the "one" highlight in the city center. Melbourne lives from the atmosphere. Still, I would recommend the following attractions in the city center: Federation Square, Royal Botanic Gardens and the Yarra River Promenade in Southbank. All sights can be easily walked.
Stroll through the St Kilda neighborhood
St. Kilda is known for its promenade surrounded by palm trees, the many hip restaurants, interesting buildings and the great atmosphere.
Transportation to next station
Bus | 11:00 Hours
I used my 30 day Whimit Travel Pass from Greyhound.

SUMMARY
Australia is just beautiful and has so much to offer. I practically drove from highlight to highlight. Of course you can spend a lot more time here, but if you only have 4 weeks, then I can only recommend my stations. The month of October is perfect for Australia.
