A weekend in Paris
Published: Aug, 2020 | Travel Date: Oct - Nov 2010
DESCRIPTION
Paris is a wonderful destination for a long weekend. However, you cannot see everything in the short time. We therefore selected our personal highlights beforehand that we really wanted to see. From Heidelberg we were able to take the TGV via Mannheim to Paris in 3 hours in the morning.

General Information
Accommodation
We had a hotel that was very centrally located near the Sacré-Cœur in Montmartre, so that we were in town relatively quickly in the morning.
Activities and Sights
Notre Dame, Paris, France
Unfortunately, Notre Dame was severely damaged by fire in 2019 and is currently closed. From the banks of the Seine next to Notre Dame you have a very nice view of the cathedral
Tour Eiffel, Avenue Anatole France, Paris, France
It is essential to buy the tickets online beforehand to avoid long waiting times. You can either take the stairs or take the elevator up. We went up and down :) You can buy tickets at getyourguide, for example.
Boat trip on the Seine
You should definitely take a boat trip on the Seine. There are numerous providers for this that can be booked online.
Arc de Triomphe, Place Charles de Gaulle, Paris, France
You can stroll around for free under the triumphal arch. To climb the triumphal arch via the stone spiral staircase inside, you need a ticket. It is also best to book online beforehand
Sacré-Cœur, rue du Chevalier-de-La-Barre, Paris, France
From May to September the basilica is open until 10:30 p.m., unfortunately only until 5:00 p.m. in winter. Entry is free, you just have to go through a security check before you can enter the basilica.
Louvre Museum, Rue de Rivoli, Paris, France
The Louvre opens at 9:00 a.m. You should buy your ticket online in advance, preferably with a fixed time. You can go to the Louvre half an hour before the specified time.
Versailles Palace, Versailles, France
The best way to get to Versaille is by train. Definitely book the ticket online in advance. You can enter the garden for free, but the interior of the castle is also well worth seeing!
Moulin Rouge Boutique, Rue Lepic, Paris, France
We only looked at the Moulin Rouge from the outside.

SUMMARY
Paris is certainly much more beautiful in summer than in winter. Unfortunately we didn't have the best weather, but we were still able to take the highlights of Paris with us. Our advantage was that there weren't very many tourists on site and we hardly had to wait. But next time we will definitely go to Paris in the summer!
